The Federal Monthly Access Charge on the bill represents a portion of the cost the local phone company incurs to provide network access to long distance carriers. The monthly charges are:
Universal Service Fees
Telecommunications services provided by the Company are subject to a Universal Service Fund Fee. The Universal Service Fund provides telecommunications and information services to schools and libraries and rural health care facilities and subsidy for local service to high cost areas and low income households.
This Universal Service Fund (USF) charge will be identified on the bill as "Federal Universal Service" and will appear in the "Long Distance Plans and Other Charges" section of the bill. The fee shall be calculated as follows:
The gross amounts (exclusive of taxes) attributable to interstate and international services billed to the Customer by the Company multiplied by 9.30 percent. These percentages will be subject to periodic adjustment by the Company.
