US EPA WasteWise Hall of Fame Verizon was inducted into the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WasteWise Hall of Fame for our comprehensive waste-management program that includes waste prevention, reduction, recycling and our purchase of recycled products. The WasteWise Hall of Fame recognizes long-standing partners that have continually reported outstanding waste reduction results, identified innovative waste reduction strategies, served as role models for others, and supported program initiatives. This is the 10th year in the program's 11-year history, that the EPA has recognized Verizon through a WasteWise award.
NJ Governor's Environmental Excellence Program The habitat restoration work at VZ Center was selected as the top winner in the New Jersey Governor's Environmental Excellence program in the Healthy Eco-systems category. This honor was bestowed upon Verizon for its partnership with the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Audubon Society to enhance and restore the wildlife habitat at Verizon's operational center in Basking Ridge, NJ.
100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2008
Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO) Magazine named Verizon one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2008. Of the eight categories the CRO used to rate companies, we were rated the highest for our work in climate change and the environment.
