Type of Change:
This enhancement to Verizon's ATM Cell Relay Service introduces an OC-12c interface to Verizon's ATM Cell Relay network. It consists of a 622.08 Mb/s SONET connection from the customer premises, terminating on a port in Verizon's ATM Cell Relay network. A port only interface option is also available, but a SONET OC12c access facility must be purchased separately.
The OC-12c SONET line rate is 622.08 Mb/s. The actual payload available for ATM cells is 599.04 Mb/s. This is a concatenated signal, and cannot be de-multiplexed into STS-1 signals. Cell scrambling will be performed. The OC-12c is supported via a pair of single-mode fibers from the customer's equipment. The optical fiber interface shall be the Ultra SC PC.
This service will conform to the following technical references:

Dates changes are to occur:
The product offering is planned for a 3Q2002 introduction, subject to change. To confirm the scheduled deployment dates, contact the Product Line Manager listed below.
Location changes are to occur:
Available throughout Verizon-East (former Bell Atlantic) region, where SONET facilities and switch capacity are available. An OC12c Cell Relay service is already available in selected jurisdictions throughout the former GTE territories.
Impact of change:
This new interface is an incremental enhancement to ATM Cell Relay service options already available from Verizon. It is intended for customers who have a need for greater bandwidth, either because of new applications that are bandwidth intensive or the need to aggregate many remote ports onto a large ATM hub port.
