15 Digit International Dialing

Bell Atlantic will modify its network to provide the capability to accommodate a maximum of 15 digits for international telephone numbers. This is in accordance with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Recommendation E.164 which provides for the expansion of international telephone numbers from a maximum of 12 digits to a maximum of 15 digits on December 31, 1996.

Dates/location changes are to occur:
With limited exceptions in Pa., this capability will be available throughout Bell Atlantic at Time "T", December 31, 1996. The remaining local switches will be modified by March 31, 1997.
Reasonably foreseeable impact of change:
Expanded capability is required to retain existing International Direct Distance Dialing to those countries that expand their numbering plans.
