Type of Change
Bell Atlantic's BVS-Serial Component Video Service is a non compressed, 270Mbps, broadband video transport service providing high quality video transmission over fiber optic facilities as defined in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Standard 259M.
It provides an electrical Serial Digital Interface for system M (525 line/60 field) NTSC digital television equipment operating at 10-bit, 4:2:2 serial component signals. BVS-Serial Component Video Service provides one-way transmission capability for transporting digital signals that conform to SMPTE 259M-serial digital format.
This service capability will allow users to utilize high quality digital video signals between end user locations or between end user locations and broadcast video hub sites.

Locations changes are to occur:
BVS-270 Mbps Service is planned for implementation throughout the Bell Atlantic Region, where facilities are available.
Reasonably foreseeable impact of change:
Customers will be able to establish high quality point to point digital broadcast video signals, without analog to digital or digital to analog conversions along the facility path. CPE vendors who are interested in providing CPE for this service will need to meet the interface requirements.
