Type of Change:
Bell Atlantic's 45 Mb/s Digital Video Transport Service is a one way, point-to-point, single channel broadcast video service. It provides high quality transmission over fiber optic facilities as defined in; American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Telecordia documents. An electrical handoff is provided at both ends of the channel termination.
It provides an electrical 45 Mb/s digital interface for system and equipment conforming to the ANSI Digital Hierarchy - Electrical Interface standard. It provides one-way transmission capability for transporting digital signals that conform to the aforementioned standard.
Bell Atlantic will offer an optional CODEC to digitally compress a baseband National Television Standards Committee (NTSC) composite video signal for transmission over the full time 45 Mb/s Digital Video Transport Service. The CODEC option will provide compression of a NTSC composite video signal into a 44.736 Mb/s data stream or decompression of the 44.736 Mb/s data stream into NTSC composite video and audio signals. The optional CODEC can be provided at one or both channel terminations and is considered network equipment. Bell Atlantic will utilize CODEC(s) that have been approved for use within our network and will specify the CODEC to be used with this service option when a request for service is received.
This service capability will allow users to utilize high quality digital video signals between end user locations or between end user locations and a long distance carrier point-of-presence (POP).
