Subject: HIGH BANDWIDTH DIGITAL BASED SERVICES
Description/Impact: In accordance with Rule 51.519(b), the purpose of this amended notice is to publicly provide up-to-date information respecting the May 2, 1997, and December 18, 1997, Notice of Network Change previously listed on this subject. On or about April 30, 1998, the GTE Telephone Operating Companies will file a High Bandwidth Service (HBS) tariff in the Special Access section of the GTE Telephone Operating Companies' (Telephone Companies) FCC No. 1 Facilities for Interstate Access Tariff. HBS is a conditioned Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) special access service provisioned using Telephone Company provided facilities terminating on compatible telephone company and/or customer provided equipment at a customer designated location. HBS will be offered subject to the availability and limitations of Telephone Company facilities.
GTE will install ADSL SpeedPort system by Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. and its partner, Orckit. The SpeedPort system uses industry-standard DMT (Discrete Multi-Tone) technology. It transmits data using the Ethernet IP protocol, and is ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) capable.
Implementation Date: Telephone Company anticipates a tariff effective date of around June 1, 1998.
Locations: During the June-December 1998 time frame, GTE will install ADSL equipment in selected offices in or surrounding the following areas:
California: Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Victorville
Florida: Sarasota, Tampa
Hawaii: Hilo, Oahu
Illinois: Bloomington, Carbondale, Dekalb
Indiana: Elkhart, Fort Wayne, Jasper, Lafayette, Terre Haute, Valparaiso
Michigan: Mount Pleasant, Muskegon
North Carolina: Raleigh-Durham
Ohio: Athens, Bowling Green, Norwalk
Pennsylvania: Erie, Hershey, York
Washington: Kennewick, Pullman, Seattle
Texas: College Station, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Angelo, Texarkana
Telephone Company shall further amend this notice in accordance with Rule 51.329(b) as soon as the particular offices are selected.
