How to Use Busy Redial You activate Busy Redial on a call-by-call basis. Activating Busy Redial
  1. If the number you called is busy, hang up your telephone's receiver.


  2. Lift the receiver and press *66 to activate Busy Redial.
    Dial 1166 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.
    If Enhanced Busy Redial is available in your area, you do not have to press *66 to activate Busy Redial. Instead, a voice prompt will ask if you want to have the number redialed.


  3. If the called number is still busy, listen to the announcement.


  4. Hang up and Busy Redial will keep trying to connect your call for 30 minutes.
    When the connection is made, you will hear a distinctive ring every five minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes or until you answer your phone.


  5. Pick up the receiver and your call will go through.
Busy Redial cannot be activated for calls made to numbers outside of your regional calling area or to 411, 611, 911, 900, or toll-free numbers.
Canceling Busy Redial If you decide that you do not want to wait for your call to become available, you can cancel Busy Redial within 30 minutes of activation, prior to receiving the distinctive ring.
  • Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.

  • Press *86 to cancel Busy Redial.
    Dial 1186 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.
