Using the D-Link router's configuration utility to test your Ethernet cable
- If you have re-connected both ends of your Ethernet cable, but the LAN lights still aren't illuminated, you can use the D-Link router utility to test the cable.
- Open a browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox and enter http://192.168.0.1 in the Address field.
- Enter your router user name and password. If you didn't change the user name and password during installation, enter Admin as the user name and leave the Password field blank.
- Select the Tools tab.
- Select Cable Test in the left navigation panel.
- If you checked the Ethernet cable connections but the cable test shows it is as disconnected, the cable is bad and should be replaced.
