Using Device Manager in Windows XP to check for an installed wireless adapter
- Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
- Select Properties from the menu. The System Properties window displays.
- Select the Hardware tab.
[Show Me] - Select Device Manager.
[Show Me] - When Device Manager displays, expand Network adapters by clicking on the plus (+) sign. Look for a wireless adapter already installed on your computer
- Close Device Manager.
- If you've confirmed you have a wireless network adapter installed, you're ready to connect to your network.
If you don't have a wireless network adapter installed, you must install and configure a wireless network adapter before you can connect to the network.
