Step 2: Configuring Windows 2000 to share folders and printers The following components must be installed on each computer linked to the network:

  • The File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks component is required to share printers and folders on your computer.


  • The Client for Microsoft Networks component must be installed to access the shared folders and printers on the other networked computers. Select your computer's version of Windows for instructions to share printers and folders on your home network.


To configure Windows 2000 to allow sharing printers and folders:

  1. Right click on the My Network Places icon on your desktop and select Properties.


  2. Right click on the icon for you network connection and select Properties.
