Before you can connect a computer to your home network, you must configure Windows to automatically obtain an IP address for your router.
The instructions and illustrations below use Windows XP. Although you can set up a network in Windows 98 SE, Me and 2000, you will find it significantly easier if the computer connected to the router is running Windows XP or Vista. Windows XP and Vista were designed with features and installation wizards specifically for networking.
