- Open Outlook Express.
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
- Select New to start the Account Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts.

In the Display Name field, type your full name. (This is how your name will appear to
email recipients.) - Select Next.

Select I already have an
email address that I'd like to use, then type your Verizon Onlineemail address in theEmail address field. - Click the Next arrow.

Fill in the server information:
- Select POP as the server type.
- Type pop.verizon.net for the incoming mail server name.
- Type smtp.verizon.net for the outgoing mail (SMTP) server name.

Select Next:
- In the Account ID field, type your Verizon Online user name.
- In the Password field, type your Verizon Online password.

Select Next:
- In the Outlook Express Account Manager field, type Verizon Online.
- Click Finish.

Select your Verizon Online
email account, then click Edit.

Choose the Account Settings tab:
- Select the Click here for advanced sending options button.
- Select the SMTP server requires authentication check box.
- Verify that Use same settings as incoming mail server is selected.
- Click OK.
- Select the News tab in the Accounts dialog box, then click New to start the Account Setup Assistant.
- In the Organization field, type Verizon Online.

Select Next:
- In the News (NNTP) server name field, type news.verizon.net.
- Verify that My news server requires me to log on is checked.

Select Next:
- In the Account name field, type Verizon Online news.
- Select Finish.
- Click Close to close the Accounts dialog box.
