Using Device Manager in Windows XP to check for an installed wireless adapter
  1. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.


  2. Select Properties from the menu. The System Properties window displays.


  3. Select the Hardware tab. [Show Me]


  4. Select Device Manager[Show Me]


  5. When Device Manager displays, expand Network adapters by clicking on the plus (+) sign. Look for a wireless adapter already installed on your computer

  7. Close the Device Manager window.
  1. If you've confirmed you have a wireless network adapter installed, you're ready to connect to your network.

    If you don't have a wireless network adapter installed, you must verify you have the required windows components and install the wireless network adapter before you can connect to the network.
