    Steps to add a computer to an established Actiontec GT704WG wired home network

         The instructions and illustrations below use Windows XP. Although you can set up a network in Windows 98 SE, Me and 2000, you will find it significantly easier if the computer connected to the router or gateway is running Windows XP or Vista. Windows XP and Vista were designed with features and installation wizards specifically for networking.

    To configure your NIC connection in Windows XP:

      1. Click Start in the left Taskbar.


      2. Right click My Network Places and select Properties.
        3. [Show Me]

      3. Right click the network connection for your Network Interface Card (NIC) and select Properties. [Show Me]

      1. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. [Show Me]


      2. Select Obtain an IP address automatically if it isn't already checked.
