    • Terminate active TCP/IP connections You can terminate any active TCP/IP connections on all your network adapters using the "ipconfig /release" command from the Command Prompt. The directions for running the ipconfig /release command are provided for Windows Vista and earlier versions of Windows.

    To run the ipconfig command in Windows Vista:

    1. Click Start in the left Taskbar.


    2. Enter cmd in the Start Search box and press Shift-Control-Enter to open the Command Prompt window in Administrative mode.


      3. Search field

    3. Enter ipconfig /release at the Command Prompt.


      4. ipconfig /release

    4. Enter Exit to close the Command Prompt window.[Show Me]


    5. Now that your Verizon gateway is in Bridge mode and your TCP/IP connections are terminated, follow the third-party manufacturer's instructions for attaching the router to your Verizon network.


    To run the ipconfig command in earlier versions of Windows:

    1. Click Start in the left Taskbar.


    2. Click All Programs.

    3. Click Accessories and then Command Prompt.


      4. Command Prompt

    4. Enter ipconfig /release at the Command Prompt.


      5. ipconfig /release

    5. Enter Exit to close the Command Prompt window. [Show Me]


    6. Now that your Verizon gateway is in Bridge mode and your TCP/IP connections are terminated, follow the third-party manufacturer's instructions for attaching the router to your Verizon network.
