Custom Connect Order Guide

Overview

The purpose of this document is to assist carriers with ordering Custom Connect service.

Verizon Custom Connect service makes it easy to take advantage of point-to-point optical transport service to serve your customers and meet your needs. Custom Connect is offered in the Verizon West region.

Custom Connect is a SONET-based service providing high bandwidth interfaces over shared SONET infrastructure facilities with various levels of protection. It is capable of high speed synchronous optical fiber-based full duplex data transmission. Custom Connect provides customers with point-to-point SONET-based Special Access Service between two Customer Designated Locations (CDLs), between a collocation arrangement and a CDL, between two collocation arrangements located in different central offices, and between a CDL and the wire center where the Custom Connect service connects to a different Verizon service. Service options include OC3/OC3c, OC12/OC12c, OC48/OC48c, and OC192/OC192c.

Pre-Order

You can obtain a price quote for Custom Connect from your Verizon Account Manager. The standard interval for Service where facilities already exist is 18 business days. For minor and major build scenarios, the standard intervals are 40 and 60 business days, respectively. A planning session is required. Critical dates are established during the Planning Session.

Order

A complete ASR is essential to properly provision and bill CUSTOM CONNECT access services. The following information pertains to the fields that will impact CUSTOM CONNECT requests. All fields on the ASR (including those not listed here) must be populated according to the Access Business Rules . Note: when this product is ordered under a private carriage agreement (Forbearance), the Contract ID must be populated in the PNUM Field on the ASR Form.     Location Section

    SECLOCSecondary LocationWhen the Secondary location is being ordered to a Wire Center for multiplexing, the SECLOC must contain the Wire Center Common Language Location Identification (CLLI) Code. When the secondary location is a customer premises, POP, or Verizon advanced data service, the SECLOC must be populated with E, and the entire Service Address Location screen/form is populated as usual.     Diverse Route and the SR Field for non-channelized OC192/OC192c

    There are five values for the SR field when circuit rides IOTS , and you request a Protected Optical Transport Channel.

    SR Field Entry

    Description

    BNNThe Primary Location rides IOTS, and the Protected IOTS Optical Transport Channel is provided at the Primary Location only.
    BNKThe Primary Location rides IOTS, and the Protected IOTS Optical Transport Channel is provided at the Primary Location. Fiber diversity is provided at the Secondary Location off ring.
    NNBThe Secondary Location rides IOTS, and the Protected IOTS Optical Transport Channel is provided at the secondary location.
    KNBFiber diversity is provided at the primary location off ring. The Secondary Location riders IOTS, and the Protected IOTS Optical Transport Channel is provided at the secondary location.
    BNBThe Primary and Secondary locations are on 2 different IOTS rings, and the Protected IOTS Optical Transport Channels are provided at the Primary and Secondary locations.

    Note: A Dash (-) or "T" in the third position of the NC Code can be used. An "R" in the fourth position indicates the circuit is Concatenated. A Dash (-) in the fourth position indicates the circuit is not concatenated and not multiplexed.

    Non-Multiplexing

    A SONET Facility can be ordered as Non-Muxed. When the fourth position of the NC is "R" or a Dash (-), this configuration will be given a Circuit Layout Serial (CLS) CKT ID.

    Multiplexing

    A SONET Facility can be ordered as Channelized with Multiplexing provided by Verizon. Verizon multiplexing equipment may be installed at a Verizon Wire Center or the End User Premises or POP. This configuration will be given a Circuit Layout Facility (CLF) CKT ID. Premise Multiplexing may be provided at one (1) or both ends of the Facility.

    E
    Verizon Mux equipment is installed at both ends of the Facility. There are two configurations - premises at both ends or a premise at one end and a CO at the other end.

    4 Fiber, 1 + 1 Protection

    4 Fiber, 1+1 Protection consists of two (2) cards in the Add/Drop Multiplexer, one working card and a second, standby card to provide automatic protection from a fault in the working card.

    The 4 Fiber, 1+1 Protection is available with all Telephone Company provided Add/Drop Multiplexers and applies per low speed hand-off to the customer.

    4 Fiber, 1+1 Protection can be ordered at one (1) or both ends of the Custom Connect service. The first two (2) positions of the Network Channel Interface (NCI) and/or Secondary Network Channel Interface (SECNCI) must be populated with "04."

    The seventh position of the NCI or SECNCI must be populated with "B", "D", "F," or "X."

      These alpha entries represent Reach Factor:
    • B = Long Reach
    • D = Intermediate Reach
    • F = Short Reach
    • X= Provider Engineer Reach Factor

    Rider Application

    Custom Connect Service offers riders in the following bandwidths: DS1, DS3, OC3/OC3c, OC12/OC12c, and OC48/OC48c.

    Secondary Location Connection

    A Rider may also connect to a SONET Facility at the Secondary Location without having the Primary CFA Field populated. When this configuration is ordered, the Secondary Customer Facility Assignment (SCFA) Field will be populated with the Higher Level Connecting Facility.
