Industry Codes
There are a number of industry standard codes that are required to become a CLEC in the Verizon region.

Operating Company Number (OCN)

Company Codes, also referred to as Operating Company Numbers (OCNs) are used like social security numbers to uniquely identify your company and are assigned to all telecommunications service providers. They are used in mechanized systems throughout the industry to facilitate the exchange of information. NECA Services, Inc. assigns all company codes.

Interexchange Access Customer (IAC)

IAC codes are assigned and administered by iconectiv. These unique alphabetic codes are used to populate such COMMON LANGUAGE on Universal Service Order (USO) record fields as "ACNA" and "PIC" and are used to populate the ACNA and CCNA fields on the Access Service Request (ASR) and the Local Service Request (LSR).

Common Language Location Identifier (CLLI)

They identify network sites, network support sites and related job functions and equipment. They are essential to the quick and precise exchange of information that enables you to interconnect with customers and carriers.

Exchange Company Code and Authorized Exchange Carrier Name (ECC/AECN)

A four-character code assigned to CLECs by iconectiv. The Exchange Carrier Code (also know as AECN) identifies the CLEC to the companies from whom they buy (or lease) telephone numbers, dial tone, facilities, etc.

Local Access and Transport Area (LATA)

A geographic area within a telephone company's franchised territory established in accordance with the Modification of Final Judgment (MFJ) for the purpose of defining the area within which a telephone company may offer services.

Local Exchange Routing Guide (LERG)

A document issued by iconectiv (formerly Bellcore) that is used to identify NPA-NXX routing and homing information, as well as network element and equipment designation. It contains a listing of local routing data such as destination codes, switching entities, rate centers and locality information by LATA. The LERG is an essential tool for network planning.

North American Numbering Plan (NANP)

The numbering plan used in the United States, Canada, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and certain Caribbean Islands. The NANP format is a 10-digit number that consists of a 3-digit NPA code (Area Code), 3-digit NXX code (Exchange), and 4-digit code (Line).

Revenue Accounting Code (RAO)

RAO codes are the three-position alphanumeric codes, assigned by iconectiv that are used in the telecommunications industry for exchanging messages between companies.
