Switch to the Technology Migrator
Put Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) service on your network and watch customers line up to sign up for your fast packet services. ATM broadens your network capacity. You can offer customers multiple classes of service for high-speed LAN interconnection, voice, video and multimedia applications using Verizon's infrastructure.
ATM's high-bandwidth, fast packet, cell-based switching and multiplexing technology migrates many protocols onto one access line. A choice in bandwidth options lets you support a few customer applications and grow as your business does, offer a full range of services or connect for capacity somewhere in between. Regardless of where you start with ATM, customer traffic moves fast and efficiently to multiple destinations while revenue flows to your bottom line.
How It Works
ATM switching units are provisioned in select serving wire centers. ATM networks are formed by linking ATM switches with trunks patterned to traffic flow. You access the network via port cards mounted in the ATM switching platforms and physical access channels.
Verizon's interfaces conform to national and international ATM standards. Additionally, we maintain network operational standards for cell loss ratios, latency and traffic shaping to assure optimum performance.
Benefits
- ATM is cost-effective for you and your customers because Verizon's pricing structure includes five levels of service based on real-time traffic. Plus, a port's entire bandwidth is useable at no extra cost.
- Multiple bandwidth options on Verizon's platform allow you to provide ATM capabilities without a huge capital outlay.
- ATM solutions expand your portfolio for increased revenue and distinguish your company from the competition.
- Verizon's technical experts maintain and monitor your ATM service to ensure reliable performance.
Applications
- Configure ATM to one, some or all of our quality of service options: Constant Bit Rate (CBR); Variable Bit Rate - Real Time (VBR-RT); Variable Bit Rate - Non Real Time (VBR-NRT); Available Bit Rate (ABR); and Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR).
- Expand your network to provide customer applications, including television, video conferencing, messaging, multimedia e-mail, text/data/image transfers and more.
- Add new services like Frame Relay, native LAN and WAN extensions and IP networking.
