Local Access Transport Areas (LATA) determine where a Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) can carry traffic
and where an Interexchange Carrier (IXC) is needed to carry traffic between LATAs. There may be
several LATAs within a state and a few LATAs cross state boundaries. To lookup specific LATA information, view the Acrobat files. Each shows a different view of the LATA information.
