Verizon's LIDB services equip CLECs to capitalize on alternate billing and other services that give customers more choices and added convenience.
LIDB automatically validates calls billed to calling cards and screens the billing numbers for third number and collect calls. Through the service, Verizon monitors calling activity, blocks attempts to bill calls to pay phones and verifies alternate billing data for accuracy before completing calls. As a result, you are protected against most calling fraud losses while offering customers more ways to pay for the calls they make.
LIDB access also powers enhanced service offerings to bring revenue over and above the charges you collect from alternate billing services. You can use LIDB to deliver Calling Name ID. Or, you can offer Single Number Service for directing calls by zip code to a location close to your caller.
Your operator services system originates queries to Verizon's LIDB. The requested validation data is passed back to your customer-designated location via one of our interconnecting signal points.
The Line Information Database (LIDB) is a database for alternate billing arrangements, Originating Line Number Screening (OLNS) and Calling Name Delivery (CNAM). LIDB queries return information about billing and privacy features associated with line number entries stored in the database (following an industry format as described in the Telcordia Operator Services Generic Requirements (OSSGR))
The ;carrier has the capability to input end user records for its subscribers into the Verizon LIDB. The LIDB provides the ability to perform screening for collect, bill to third number and calling cards, and to determine whether billed lines are either public or semi-public telephones. The LIDB also provides Calling Name Delivery (CNAM). The carrier is allowed to send its subscriber records containing necessary information through the record management service or the LIDB storage and validation service. Once the records are placed in the Verizon LIDB, they can be queried by any company that purchases LIDB access service from Verizon. The carrier may purchase Verizon LIDB access services via SS7 interconnections.
With information on 30 million lines served by Verizon and other carriers, the Verizon LIDB offers the data you need to support revenue-generating Alternate Billing Services (ABS). With LIDB Access Services, you can automatically validate calls to be billed to calling cards and screen billing numbers for collect and third-number call restrictions. The system also automatically blocks calls when the caller attempts to bill a pay phone. We take additional steps to prevent other ABS fraud too through continuous monitoring of activity. Our sophisticated systems track Alternate Billing Service usage across all networks. When we detect potential fraud, we take corrective action immediately to minimize your fraud losses.
The Verizon LIDB not only ranks among the largest in the industry, it also is one of the fastest. It can process up to 880 queries per second at response times of less than one second. Your customers see almost instantaneous responses. To maintain exceptional accuracy levels, we continuously update the Verizon LIDB. Updates include service additions and deletions, account delinquencies, reports of fraudulent calling card usage and other information.
LIDB Access and LIDB Storage are both available to Wholesale customers on a national basis.
The description and applications of rates for the LIDB product can be found at the following tariff sites:
For Verizon East areas, see Verizon FCC #1, Section 6.
For Verizon West areas, see Verizon FCC # 14, Section 8.
