Line Ports

Overview

What It Is?

Verizon's Unbundled Line Ports provide a physical interface to the line side of our central office switch. Thus, access to local switching capabilities, including telephone numbers, Primary Interexchange Carriers, 911/E911 and vertical features, is enabled.

How It Works

An Unbundled Line Port gives you access to the features of the type of port you purchase. Analog, Coin, Basic Rate ISDN and TR008 are examples of port types that may be available in your area. Some port features are optional and therefore provisioned at an extra charge.

Description

The line port represents the physical interface to the line side of the Verizon central office switch. When buying a line port, a service provider has access to the features of that particular port-type. Some of the features are optional and may involve an additional charge. The features can be purchased and added to that particular port type. The service provider can “activate” these features at the time of provisioning the line port or anytime after the initial provisioning.

Detailed Information

When a service provider purchases unbundled elements in use to serve an existing Verizon end user, the end user will experience some out of service conditions.

Also, if the Verizon end user currently has multi-party line service, the service provider needs to verify that the telephone set can accommodate single party service, and notify the end user of any telephone set upgrades as required. An incompatibility will cause the end user to experience an out of service condition.
