How It Works

Verizon's reliable national platform of advanced digital operator service switches, strategically located service centers and state-of-the-art database accommodate the service. Listing data is updated daily from Verizon, other phone companies, listing house sources, operator referrals and internal audits to keep our database current. Flexibility is configured into our database as well. So, operators can search different ways to deliver listings -- even when the information provided is sketchy.

Returning the call with the listed number to your specified carrier switch performs call completion. Billing information is sent in EMI format.

National Directory Assistance from Verizon provides a powerful directory assistance service for any carrier. When your customers need a number to make a call, National Directory Assistance gives you the capability to provide it fast and accurately. Custom branding lets you use your company's name, so you get the credit when customers call for directory assistance. Your name stays in front of your customers, enabling your company to offer a more complete and integrated portfolio of convenient customer service.

Availability

National Directory Assistance is available nationwide. This offering is also available as a local Directory Assistance service providing customers with address and/or telephone numbers of a given name or business located within their LATA.   • Points of Connection

    - Verizon's network expands across North America. This means you can connect to the interconnection point closest to you, minimizing facility transport costs.
  • Service Configuration

    - Flexible service configuration options include MF or SS7 signaling.
  • Call Completion

    - This directory assistance feature provides flexibility for the service options you provide your customers. Carriers may choose to perform call completion automatically or allow customers to choose call completion by pressing a button that connects them after the listing is provided. (Call completion is done by return to your call completion link. The call with the listed number is returned to the switch of the carrier that you specify to be completed on that carrier's network. Billing information is provided via EMI format.)
  • Customer Name & Address (CNA)

    - CNA is a reverse Directory Assistance service that provides the caller with the published listing name and address for a requested telephone number anywhere in the United States. As with our previous NDA service, information relating to non-published and non-listed numbers will not be provided. CNA is available in Verizon North and Verizon West.
  • Directory Assistance Call Completion (DACC)

    - DACC is an auto completion service that is attractive and valuable for wireless phone users because they are often on the move. You will be able to present to your customers a professional image through customized branding of DA services with your company name, 24 hours a day, through Verizon’s experienced and well-trained operators. Wireless customers will have access to more than 18 million listings from a database that is updated daily. Verizon will provide you with detailed billing information for each call that is completed through DACC.

We also use listing house sources, operator referrals and internal audits to maintain comprehensive and current listing information. Our database is configured to give our operators a high degree of search flexibility and increase the chances of finding a requested listing even when the information provided is incomplete.

Verizon has a national presence with a robust and dependable platform that consists of advanced digital operator service switches, operator service centers located throughout the United States and a reliable redundant state-of-the-art database. Our commitment to carriers shows with our impressive 10-second or less average speed of answer.

Verizon has a range of survivability measures to reduce the chances of traffic interruption -- even during a disaster. Routing diversity and redundancy help ensure that your customers will continue to be handled through even the most difficult situations.

Because Verizon Directory Assistance Services can be branded, your customers hear your company's name even though our operators handle the call. You can provide Verizon with a cassette tape containing your branding announcement or you can contract with Verizon to have your announcement recorded at our switch vendor's studio.
