Customers expect to receive complete and accurate telephone directories for reference. Verizon helps dilisrectory publishers meet that expectation through our Publisher Lists products and services.

As one of the largest premier telecommunications companies in the world, Verizon listings come directly from our database daily. We can provide listings to you as an Extract and/or an Update. An Extract gives you a snapshot of our white pages database at a given date in time. The Updates provide you with current information on new service orders, customer changes, moves and more. You can request Updates on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

How It Works

In most areas, you obtain Verizon Publisher Lists by entering into a license agreement with us. Your order is usually processed within 30 days of the date we receive your request.

  • Using our Publisher Lists, you can offer directories in many customer pleasing formats, including print, CD-ROM and on the Internet.

Verizon Publisher Lists - Mid Atlantic Region

Listings for: New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and Washington D.C.

Verizon provides listing data to directory publishers for use in the publication of a directory.

  • To purchase Verizon's Publisher List Products, a customer must first enter into a license agreement with Verizon.
  • Orders require 30 days for processing from the date the order is received.

SODA:

SODA (Service Order Directory Access) provides an electronic feed of Verizon directory affecting Service Order Activity

Features

I. Extract Listings

Extract Listings (as noted in the license agreement as full file extract) are a "snapshot" of Verizon’s White Page Publishing database based on the criteria selected by the customer. This includes the telephone subscriber’s name, listed address, and telephone number. The telephone subscriber determines how the “listed address” will appear when the telephone service is established. CLEC’s (Customers utilizing a different local carrier within the selected Mid Atlantic territory) will be included in the extract where available.

Extract Selection Criteria

IA. Segmentation (choice of one or any combination thereof):

Verizon Directory Name

  • Name of Verizon Publication
  • NPA/NXX
  • Area Code and Exchange

Business Listings

  • Listings with Business names. Additionally, Verizon's Original Yellow Page Heading classifications are available for listings initiated by Verizon after 7/21/00. Business Captions can be selected as either complete (all NXX's that fall within a caption carrying the Publisher's selection to include foreign, toll-free and non-standard numbers within that caption) OR reformatted (only those exchanges selected by the publisher).

Residence Listings

  • Residential Listings that do not include individual titles.

Government Listings

  • Verizon “Blue” Page Listings that include Federal, State, County,Local and Schools

Combination Listings

  • Residential listings which include an individual (i.e., Dr., Minister, Psychiatrist) title. In addition, a business class of service with a residential sounding name is also included in this category. If both Business and Residence accounts are selected; or, one is selected separately, the Combination Listings will not be included UNLESS Combination Listings are included in the selection.

  • Foreign Listings

    • A listing that would not normally be included in Verizon’s print directory for a geographic area.

    Toll Free Numbers

    • 800, 888, 877 and all other toll-free numbers included in the selected directory name.

    Non Standard Listings

    • 911 Numbers

    IB. Media Type for Extracts:

    FTP

    • Electronic transfer via the Internet (File Transfer Protocol) is available when customer provides Verizon with an Internet location or directory as well as a user ID and login passcode.

    Magnetic Tape

    • (1600 BPI or 6250 BPI) Standard ASCII labeled tape written in ASCII. Record size is 930 and blocksize is 9300.

    Camera Ready

    • Glossy Pages for reproduction.
    • Digital Reproduction Proofs available via CD-ROM (additional processing charges apply).

    II. Updates

    (As noted in the license agreement as service order activity) document the changes occurring in the database since the customer's purchase. Updates are available on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. We offer two types of updates in the Verizon Mid Atlantic Region: SODA and DNCL.

    IIA. SODA

    SODA Service Order Directory Access is for Directory Publishers who wish to maintain a listing database. SODA provides an electronic feed of Verizon's directory affecting Service Order activity. SODA can be ordered by selecting from the following:

    NPA/NXX

    Area Code and Exchange

    Service Order Types:

    • N - New Connect: Used to establish a new account
    • T - Transfer to: Establish a new account for a customer when the customer moves from when one premises to another and service for both the old and the new premises is furnished by the same central office
    • F - Transfer from: Always associated with a "T" order; provides the detail information from service prior to the transfer
    • C - Change: Change orders are used to change established service including facility assignment, central office work/translations, or inside/outside plant work.
    • D - Disconnect: Is used when disconnecting an entire account. The account is closed and a final bill is rendered.
    • R - Record Change: Is used for changes or corrections to an existing account without affecting service.
    • X - Area Code Change: Documented change in Area Code

    SODA Class of Service Types:

    • Business Listings
    • Listings with a Business class of service (to include toll free and Government listings: Federal, State, County, Local, and Schools). Additionally, Verizon's original Yellow Page Heading classifications are included when available.

    • Residence Listings
    • Listings with a Residential Class of Service (which can include an individual title)

    SODA Listing Types:

    • Main: Subscriber's primary telephone number
    • Additional: Additional subscriber telephone lines, secondary to the subscriber's main line
    • Alternate Call: Provides all service orders for subscribers who wish to refer callers to an alternate line during certain time periods
    • Cross Reference: Listings that refer customer to a different name/listing in the directory
    • Joint User: Provides all service orders that denote a Joint User; i.e. a person, firm or corporation who is designated by the customer as a user of the service and to whom a portion of the charge for the service will be billed
    • Foreign: Foreign listings are listings in an alphabetical directory of an area other than the area from which the listed service is furnished.
    • Enterprise: Service Orders otherwise know as:SRCTS (Special Reversed Charge Toll Service): an arrangement with a subscriber for Automatic Reversal of Toll Charges
    • Emergency: Official public emergency agencies
    • Secondary: A complex listing that would be placed in a secondary directory (Secondary directory is a directory serving a locality included in a customer's local calling area but it is not the main directory serving the customer's location)
    • Remote Call Forwarding: Service Orders involving subscribers who wish to have all incoming calls forwarded to a pre-selected telephone number

    IIA2. SODA Media:

    • Magnetic Tape
    • (1600 BPI or 6250 BPI) Standard EBCDIC labeled tape Written in EBCDIC. Record size is 1239 and blocksize is 12390.

    • FTP
    • Electronic transfer via the Internet (File Transfer Protocol) is available when a customer provides Verizon with an internet location or directory as well as a user ID and login passcode.

    IIB. DNCL

    DNCL The Directory New Connect Listing product is for Directory Publishers who wish to update their telephone book distribution list or obtain sales leads for new businesses. This feed provides the customer name, directory delivery address (including zip code); and, telephone number for published listings. The DNCL feed is run through postal validation to improve validity for US mail. The DNCL data consists of N (new connect) and T (transfer) service order types only.

    IIB1. DNCL Selection Criteria

    Segmentation (choice of one or any combination thereof):

    • Postal Zip Code
    • U.S. Postal Zip Code
    • NPA/NXX
    • Area Code and Exchange
    • Non Pub Address
    • Listings published in Verizon's print directory are automatically provided. Publishers can also choose to obtain delivery addresses for non-published address listings (Verizon customer's requesting their name, address and telephone number to be omitted from Directory Assistance and the Printed Directory). The non-published information will contain the customer address only (name and telephone number are withheld for privacy purposes) for delivery purposes only.

    • Business Listings
    • Listings with a Business class of service (including toll free and Government listings: Federal, State, County, Local, and Schools). Additionally, Verizon's Original Yellow Page Heading classifications are included when available.

    • Residence Listings
    • Listings with a Residential Class of Service (which can include individual titles)

    IIB2. DNCL Update Media:

    • Magnetic Tape
    • (1600 BPI or 6250 BPI) Standard EBCDIC labeled tape Written in EBCDIC. Record size is 164 and blocksize is 16400.

    • FTP
    • Electronic transfer via the Internet (File Transfer Protocol) is available when customer Provides Verizon with an internet location or directory as well as a user ID and login passcode.
