Overview
Add Verizon Customers to Your Directory
Customers expect to receive complete and accurate telephone directories for reference. Verizon helps directory publishers meet that expectation through our Publisher Lists products and services.
As one of the largest premier telecommunications companies in the world, Verizon listings come directly from our database daily. We can provide listings to you as an Extract and/or an Update. An Extract gives you a snapshot of our white pages database at a given date in time. The Updates provide you with current information on new service orders, customer changes, moves and more. You can request Updates on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

Features
I. Extract Listings
Extract Listings (filedump or as noted in the license agreement as full file extract) are a snap shot of the database based on the criteria selected by the customer. Extracts consist of listings that come from the original service orders with affecting directory listing information. Listing information includes the telephone subscriber’s name; class of service (business or residence), listed address, and telephone number. The telephone subscriber determines how the “listed address” will appear when telephone service is established. Yellow page heading information can be added if specified on the order form. CLEC’s (Customers utilizing a different local carrier within the selected Northeast territory) will be included in the extract where available.
II. Updates
Update Product (as noted in the license agreement as service order activity) is referred to as a “Standing Order.” Standing Orders or Updates must follow the initial filedump or extract. Updates are available at daily, weekly and 5 week intervals on a pre-determined schedule.
III. Selection Criteria
The selection criteria for Extracts and Update orders are the same.
Segmentation (choice of one or any combination thereof):
- NPA/NXX
- Area Code and Exchange: (also known as the Central Office code).
- CDN<
- Customer Directory Name: the white pages directory the listing appears in, assigned at the time of service initiation. The CDN will uniquely identify the Verizon white pages directory name. (Note: There may be more than one CDN per Verizon publication in some areas.)
- NPA & Locality
- Area Code and Localities are based on the U.S. Postal mailing localities included in the listed address.
- NPA & CDN
- Area Code and Customer Directory Name
- NPA & Zip Code
Area Code and Zip Code are based on the U.S. Postal mailing zipcodes included in the listed address. NPA and Zip Code selection will be available at the end of the first quarter 2002.
Media (Both Extracts & Updates):
There are four (4) modes of data transfer available for Extracts (Filedumps) or Updates (Standing Orders):
- FTP: Electronic transfer via the Internet (File Transfer Protocol) is available when customer provides Verizon with an Internet location or directory as well as user ID and login passcode.
- Magnetic Tape (T3420):
- Media Size: 1/2 Inch, 2400 foot, round tape
- Tracks: Nine
- Label: Standard IBM label
- Parity: Odd
- Density: 1600 BPI (Bytes Per Inch)
- Code: American National Standard Coded for Information Interchange (ASCII).
- Status: Tape is in scratch status.
Data is compressed. Labels will contain information which includes volume serial number (six character tape identification number), name of dataset and data control block information. The advantage of labeled tape over non-labeled tape is that the labeled tape cannot be used if it is mounted by mistake.
- Cartridge (T3480):
- Media Size: 4.25 Inch, 520 feet long, Square Tape
- Tracks: Eighteen
- Label: Standard
- Density: 38000 BPI (Bytes Per Inch)
- Code: American National Standard Coded for Information Interchange (ASCII).
- Status: Tape is in scratch status.
- Computer Printout:
- Computer printouts are available in alphabetical order only.
