Fiber to the Internet

Why Verizon?

For the fourth time in four years, the Federal Communications Commission has found that every Internet speed tier on Verizon’s FiOS network delivers and sustains more than 100% of its advertised download and upload speeds.1

" Fiber to the Internet (FTTI) gives our wholesale customers a consistent and super-fast broadband service that they can offer to their business end users -- the possibilities are almost endless. Businesses are adding more Internet-connected devices and using more applications which makes FTTI especially relevant in the marketplace today"

Product Manager -

FTTI is a high-speed, fiber-based data service that enables Internet-only access for business end users of wholesale customers. Provisioning of the service includes shared fiber optic facilities, IP assignment and transport of the wholesale customer’s end-user data traffic from the end user’s premise to the public Internet. Performance levels, including transmission rate, throughput, and packet loss are highly reliable, but are not guaranteed.

1FTTI service available in select areas only. 500/100Mbps service availability may be limited in certain areas based on network qualification requirements.

Why FTTI?

  • FTTI’s conductor is glass and cannot generate electricity, making FTTI less susceptible to all sorts of interference, i.e. nearby power lines or high-voltage electrical equipment
  • FTTI is also less susceptible to lightning related equipment damage.
  • FTTI is amazingly fast, providing speeds as high as 500 Mbps in select areas. Plus, the fiber infrastructure that FTTI rides allows users to send data over much greater distances while maintaining speed.
  • FTTI is provisioned on a 100% fiber optic network to the premise infrastructure. In contrast, AT&T’s Uverse product utilizes both fiber and copper technologies to deliver internet access. The fiber portion of AT&Ts Uverse network is only fiber to the node, while the rest utilizes copper which has a more limited bandwidth than fiber.
