Overview

The purpose of this document is to assist carriers with ordering Bandwidth on Demand service.

Verizon's Bandwidth on Demand (BoD) service is a revolutionary new way to manage and control SONET-based services. The "BoD Network" utilizes a Verizon-provided optical transport network with the core network devices configured in a SONET mesh topology using optical control plane technology. BoD Network devices are physically interconnected with diversely routed fiber facilities. Verizon's BoD service allows the intelligent network to perform certain functions autonomously, thereby slashing the provisioning time for circuits remaining entirely on the BoD Network.

The BoD service offers customers the ability to order from Verizon a variety of services that remain entirely on the BoD Network, including specified DS3 special access high capacity service, OCn services, and Gigabit Ethernet private line services, on a "Just-in-Time" basis. Just-in-Time (JiT) provisioning means that these services will generally be provisioned to you on the same business day. If you send us an order before 1:00 PM Eastern time, we'll have you working that day.

Pre-Order

All Bandwidth on Demand services, except BoD Network Transport DS3's (both ON-NET and OFF-NET) are provided only on a private carriage basis under a Master Services Agreement arrangement between the Customer and Verizon, including the Verizon BoD Product Guide and related Verizon BoD Product Schedule.

Order

A complete ASR is essential to properly provision and bill Bandwidth on Demand (BoD) services. The following information pertains to the fields that will impact BoD requests. All fields on the ASR (including those not listed here) must be populated according to the Access Business Rules.

This service is ordered under a private carriage agreement (Forbearance). The Contract ID must be populated in the PNUM field on the ASR form. Note: DS3 service is offered pursuant to applicable tariff.

Note: Any NCI or SEC NCI code listed below that begins with 02/04 means that you have the option to select either 02 or 04 plus the remaining characters for that code. For example, 4 fiber is represented as 04SOF.B.

Key Fields

Field Field Name Description
ACTL Access Customer Termination Location Identifies the CLLI Code of the customer facility terminal location.
BAN Billing Account Number The BAN you want the service billed. When "N" is entered in this field a new billing account will be assigned.
CFA Channel Facility Assignment Circuit utilizing a BoD Stub Hub Arrangement will carry the CFA/SCFA of the Stub Hub.
CKR Customer Circuit Reference Identifies the circuit number or range of circuit numbers used by the customer.
DPEAA Drop Port Equipment Assignment A Location Required on the Network Assignment Information (NAI) form for BoD Network Stub Hub, Transport ON-NET or OFF-NET service.
DPEAZ Drop Port Equipment Assignment Z Location Required on the Network Assignment Information (NAI) form for BoD Network Stub Hub, Transport ON-NET or OFF-NET service.

Variable Term Agreement (VTA) options for BoD Facility and BoD Stub Hub Facility: 2, 3 and 5 years. Note: The entry on the Access Service Request (ASR) for the VTA field in Verizon East (North) is expressed in months. For example: a valid entry for a 2 year VTA is "24".

BoD Stub Hub Facility

Variable Term Agreement (VTA) options for BoD Stub Hub Facility: Month-to-Month. Enter a value of 01 in the VTA field.

BoD Network Transport ON-NET

Variable Term Agreement (VTA) options for BoD Network Transport ON-NET: Only a Month-to-Month term is offered. Enter a value of 0 (zero) in the VTA field.

BoD Network Transport OFF-NET

Variable Term Agreement (VTA) options for BoD Network Transport OFF-NET:

DS3 special access high capacity service = 0, 3, 5 years

IntelliLight Broadband Transport (IBT) - OCn = 0, 3, 5 years

Verizon Optical Networking/Ethernet Private Line Service = 1, 3, 5, 7 years
