DSR Enhancement

DSR Enhancement

Overview

The purpose of this document is to assist carriers with ordering
DSR on-ring Ethernet service.

Verizon has introduced a number of changes to its DSR Ethernet on-ring channel offerings.

These include the introduction of:

  • A protected Ethernet (10 MBPS) and Fast Ethernet (100 MBPS, with 50 MBPS and full-rate pass-through) on-ring channels. While Ethernet and Fast Ethernet services have been available in the marketplace for some time, they were not eligible as on-ring channels to DSR. As DSR on-ring channels, they will be available with both electrical and optical handoffs.
  • A new protected GigE offering (GigE2 or 100 MBPS pass through) has also been introduced. As is true with other GigE on-ring channels, GigE2 will only be available as an optical handoff.

These new services will feature native Ethernet handoffs (whether electrical or optical), except where they utilize a DSR asymmetrical port facility (APF). By definition, where Ethernet services utilize an asymmetrical port, they are aggregated into a SONET-mapped signal. Verizon has also grandfathered all unprotected Ethernet on-ring channels. Only protected NC codes will be used for these services going forward.

Pre-Order

DSR on-ring Ethernet service is ordered under a private carriage agreement (Forbearance). The Contract ID must be populated in the PNUM field on the ASR form.

Order

A complete ASR is essential to properly provision and bill DSR on-ring Ethernet services. All fields on the ASR (including those not listed here) must be populated according to the Access Business Rules.

Key Fields

Field Field Name Description/Population
PROJECT Project Identification Identifies the project with which the request is to be associated. (Conditional)
QTY Quantity Equals the total number of Circuits ordered
REQTYP Requisition Type and Status SD or ED
PIU Percentage of Interstate Usage 100
FNI Fiber Network Identification SCID Code of Ring Provided on the Billing Support Form
QSA Quantity Service Address Equals the total number of SALI forms needed - tied to the number of Customer Node locations
SPEC Service and Product Enhancement Code SNTESA (WEST) - On ring Ethernet riders and On ring Ethernet riders derived from asymmetrical port SNTDSH (EAST) - On ring Ethernet riders derived from asymmetrical port SNTDOR (EAST) - On ring Ethernet riders:
PNUM Promotion Number This product is ordered under a private carriage agreement (Forbearance); the Contract ID must be populated in the PNUM field.
VTA Variable Term Agreement Provided on the Billing Support Form For more information, please see the VTA Job Aid.
NC Network Channel See table below
NCI Network Channel Indicator See table below
SECNCI Secondary Network Channel Indicator See table below
CFA Connecting Facility Assignment Must be INGRESS & EGRESS DSR Ring CLLIs where the service originates and terminates. May also be used for the SNF, APF or Subtending Ring CFA.
ICFA1 Intermediate Connecting Facility Assignment Used for SNF, APF or Subtending rings scenarios-Must be INGRESS & EGRESS DSR Ring CLLIs where the service originates or terminates.)
PRILOC Primary Location Identifies the primary end of the circuit being provided.
SPOT Secondary Location Point of Termination This field is used to identify a physical point of termination at the noted location.
SECLOC Secondary Location Identifies the terminating end of a circuit, a provider end office or the first point of switching for the circuit

SI and SPOT Population

For DSR on-ring Ethernet riders ordered via a REQTYPE SD ASR, entries in the SI and SPOT fields on the SALI page will be required.

The SI field will be populated with C (CLLI), and the SPOT will carry the CLLI code of the ring node associated with the SECLOC (this should be either the A or Z CLLI of the CFA (if there is no subtending architecture requiring more than one CFA)).

If an on-ring Ethernet rider is ordered via a REQTYPE ED ASR, the SI and SPOT fields will be required on both the primary (SALP) and secondary SALI pages.

SR Population

SR field is required to identify when a Dual Node Cross Connect is involved with a Subtending Ring CFA scenario.

SR Field entry Dual Node Cross Connect USOC applied
NNN or Blank Not applicable
ENN One ring with two NODEs
ENE Two rings with two NODEs

Service and Product Enhancement Code

On ring Ethernet riders = SNTDOR (East Only)

On ring Ethernet riders = SNTESA (West Only) (ASR with blank PRIADM and blank SECADM)

On ring Ethernet riders derived from asymmetrical port = SNTDSH (East Only)

On ring Ethernet riders derived from asymmetrical port = SNTESA (West Only) (ASR with blank PRIADM and blank SECADM)

Use of the appropriate SPEC code (SNTDOR / SNTDSH / SNTESA) is mandated for all On-Ring Ethernet rider services; this ensures that the services are provisioned and billed correctly.
