IntelliLight® Entrance Facility (IEF) Order Guide

IntelliLight® Entrance Facility (IEF) Order Guide

Overview

The purpose of this document is to assist carriers with ordering IntelliLight Entrance Facility (IEF) service.

IntelliLight® Entrance Facility (IEF) service is an entrance transport alternative using a shared SONET ring which provides loop protection for a customer's DS1, DS3, STS1, OC3/OC3c and OC12/12c services.

When IEF is ordered, the standard Verizon network design is over a shared self-healing, SONET ring (except OC48 Mid-span meet) that passes through Verizon's wire centers and the customer's location. One of the wire centers must be the wire center of the customer's designated premises; the other wire center is selected by Verizon. When IEF access is provisioned over a high speed OC48 mid-span meet, the entire Bandwidth is committed to the customer. The customer's SONET facilities are spliced with Verizon's SONET facilities at a designated meet point referred to as the mid-span meet.

IEF is associated with a basic underlying service (e.g., DS1, DS3, OCn) and is a transport enhancement to that service.

Pre-Order

All requests for IEF access require pre-negotiation by your planning organization and your Account Manager. Your Verizon Account Manager is responsible for providing pricing information, service availability, due dates, as well as coordinating with Verizon's Network personnel to provide schematics and check for facilities. IEF requires a SONET self-healing ring connecting two Verizon Wire Centers. It is important that your planner is specific in defining your physical entrance ring to Verizon.

After all pre-sale negotiation and pricing is complete you will be able to submit an ASR

Order

When this product is ordered under a private carriage agreement (Forbearance), the Contract ID must be populated in the PNUM Field on the ASR Form. Learn more about Forbearance or contact your Account Manager for more details.

A complete ASR is essential to accurately provision and bill IEF access services. The IEF Order Sample provides an example of which fields should be entered for an IEF request. The Table below provides field details for a number of IEF variations (i.e., OCn's, DS1's on IEF Loops, etc.)

*Subtending optical point-to-point (non-muxed) services: If there is an IEF interface at the Primary, Secondary or both locations, a four-fiber interface is required. Non-IEF interfaces can be two or four fiber. For OC3 Stub Hub, OC12 Stub Hub, or OC48 MSM, the NCI code needs to be optical (04SOF).
