LAN Extension Service (LES)

Overview

The purpose of this document is to assist carriers with ordering LAN Extension Service (LES).

Verizon's LAN Extension Service (LES) gives you the ability to quickly and economically offer Ethernet-based broadband services to your customers. With this fiber-based service, you can provide bandwidth at increments of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 1Gbps without incurring major capital costs and with minimal ongoing operating expenses.

Pre-Order

Responsibilities of the Carrier:

  • The Carrier is responsible for all wiring and connections of its local area network to the Carrier side of the network interface or fiber distributing frame, as applicable.
  • The LES Carrier is responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of any Carrier provided equipment.
  • The Carrier must provide a protected path for all network fibers on private property, sufficient AC or DC power to network interface equipment, access to all sites as needed by the Telephone Company personnel to perform services and a secure environment for the network equipment.
  • The Carrier must provide a relay rack or wall space for mounting of the network interface device.
  • The Carrier must provide Connecting Facility Assignment (CFA) to which LES will be cross-connected to its Expanded Interconnection arrangement.

Order

New LAN Extension Service (LES) is provided only on a private carriage basis (Forbearance). Learn more about private carriage agreements (Forbearance) . Contact your Verizon Account Manager for more information.

When this product is ordered under a private carriage agreement (Forbearance), the Contract ID must be populated in the PNUM Field on the ASR Form.

ACTL Access Customer Termination Location When LES terminates at a multiplexing node, virtual or physical collocation arrangement, the 9th character position of the ACT CLLI Code is an "H"
BAN Billing Account Number The BAN you want the service billed. When "N" is entered in this field a new billing account will be assigned.
PNUM Promotion Number The Contract ID is required for new service in the PNUM field on the ASR Form (example - FB12345)
SPEC Service and Product Enhancement Code LAX1GB = 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps (SPEC LAX1GB always required when ordering LES service, regardless of speed)
NC Network Channel Refer to table below for appropriate codes
NCI Network Channel Indicator Refer to table below for appropriate codes
SECLOC Secondary Location C (CLLI Code)
SEC NCI Secondary Network Channel Indicator Refer to table below for appropriate codes
REMARKS Remarks HECG (Human-Interface Equipment Catalog Group) Information The FID HECG followed by the applicable CLEI code is entered in the IRMK section of the service order.
