Optical Wavelength Service

Optical Wavelength Service

Overview

Verizon Optical Wavelength Service (OWS), a two-point dense-wave service, allows for point-to-point wavelength services. The service will offer a variety of Ethernet, storage, SONET, and mainframe protocols, available as 2.5GB and 10 GB wavelengths.

Optical Wavelength Service will allow a customer to specify the type and quantity of interfaces needed between two locations for any type of application supported.

This service will be offered under forbearance only. Applicable forbearance terms are 1 to 180 months, with the minimum period associated with the service being one year. Learn more about Forbearance or contact your Account Manager for more details.

Pre-Order

All requests and inquiries for Optical Wavelength Service require pre-negotiation between your planning organization and your Verizon Account Manager. During the pre-planning process, your Account Manager will provide pricing information, service availability, due dates, as well as coordination with Verizon's Network personnel to provide schematics and check for facilities. After all pre-sale negotiation, pricing, and build of the facility are complete you will submit the ASR for your Optical Wavelength Service (OWS) configuration.

Order

A complete ASR is essential to properly provision and bill OWS access services. The following information pertains to the fields that will impact OWS requests. All fields on the ASR (including those not listed here) must be populated according to the Access Business Rules.

Because this product is ordered under a private carriage agreement (Forbearance) only, the Contract ID must be populated in the PNUM Field on the ASR Form. This identifies the forbearance contract number, and is found in the PNUM field on the ASR. The forbearance contract number will begin with two alphas (FB), followed by numeric (ex: FB12345).

SPECIFIC ASR FIELD REQUIREMENTS

TYPE Entry
REQTYPE ED or SD
ACT N, C, T, M or R
SPEC OWSP1 The SPEC code OWSP1 will be required on all OWS service requests, as it will indicate that OWS is being ordered.
PNUM or OECPNUM A forbearance contract number is required to appear in the PNUM (promotion number) ) or OECPNUM (other exchange company promotion number) field on the ASR for all OWS service requests
BAN Billing Account Number is the BAN you want the account billed to. When "N" is entered in this field a new billing account will be assigned
NC/NCI/SECNCI Please see NC/NCI/SECNCI section below
SR The SR field will be populated on OWS premium protected services where fiber path diversity (FPD) is being requested. The valid entries for FPD are BNN (FPD at PRILOC), NNB (FPD at SECLOC), and BNB (FPD at PRILOC and SECLOC). An SR entry of NNN (not applicable) is the same as the SR field being blank, and will indicate that FPD is not being ordered.
PIU Optical Wavelength Service is only available as PIU 100 at this time.
