Optical Hubbing Service (OHS) Order Guide

Optical Hubbing Service (OHS) Order Guide

Overview

The purpose of this document is to assist carriers with ordering Optical Hubbing Service.

Optical Hubbing involves deploying a dedicated Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) system between Verizon designated Optical Hubs, and a customer premise or point of presence (POP). OHS offers an alternative to basic Entrance Facility services.

Verizon Optical Hubbing Service (OHS) reduces the space requirements and power costs involved in providing point-to-hub optical connection between your or your customer's location and a Verizon Optical Hub. It serves as an extended entrance facility across a Wave Division Multiple (WDM) based infrastructure for IntelliLight Broadband Transport (IBT), Multiplexed IntelliLight Broadband Transport services, and Custom Connect. The service also supports some Verizon Optical Networking connections.

Pre-Order

  • A planning session is required prior to receipt of an ASR for an Optical Hub Facility. A Verizon Interoffice Facility (IOF) Engineer will determine whether or not a customer location is eligible. ASRs should not be submitted until after a case has been processed. Please contact your Verizon Account Manager to schedule a planning session.
  • Optical Hubbing Facility (OHF) is available in a 3, 5, or 7-year term arrangement.
  • The customer designated location (End User or ACTL) cannot be a collocation arrangement.
  • OHF cannot be a Meetpoint.
  • OHF cannot be a Near Out Of Franchise (NOOF) Transport.
  • The Optical Channel Facility (OCF) cannot be ordered on a stand-alone basis.
  • The customer designated location must be located within 10-15 miles of the Verizon optical hub.
  • Availability: OHS will be offered on a where-available basis. Verizon designates optical hubs at locations (LATAs) where sufficient facilities and technical capabilities exist to support OHS.
