Verizon East Directory Publication Schedule (Directory Specifications)

The primary use of the Directory Specifications file is the directory publication schedule it provides for each directory. The Telco Close and Publication Dates are the critical dates for CLECS to know. The Telco Close is the date by which service orders must be received by DexMedia LLC in order to be included in the publication. The Publication Date is the date when the directory is effective. The Directory Specifications file contains:

Directory Names
Standard YPPA Directory Numbers
Directory Dates
Directory Sections
Associated Area Code/Prefix, Community, Exchange (Location) Code, and Exchange Name combinations that comprise each directory

For Extended Area coverage, Verizon places certain exchange code/area code/prefix combinations into directories other than the local for directory user convenience. Depending on the directory, these listings may be interfiled with the local listings in the local section or printed in a separate section. This is administered at DexMedia LLC (publisher of Verizon print directories) discretion on an annual basis. It is our intent to do the same with CLEC listings when these listings fall within the same parameters.

When Verizon is the directory provider for facility based CLECs or for Resellers who are reselling other than Verizon service in a Verizon directory area, DexMedia LLC needs a list of Area Code/Prefixes assigned to your company. The CLEC Area Code/Prefix Form, found on this site, is the form used to provide this information to DexMedia LLC.

On a per directory basis DexMedia LLC determines whether to print an expanded (or spelled out) version of the community name or follow the community name as sent on a Service Order. In the local directory the community name is most often abbreviated. In any other directory of appearance, the Community Name is usually spelled out. It is our intent to retain or modify community names submitted to us on CLEC orders using the same methodology used with Verizon listings.

Included in this file are directories that are not Verizon system directories. (NOTE: A system directory is the term used for a directory which covers a geographic area where Verizon provides local telephone service. Foreign Directory refers to a directory where Verizon is not currently a local exchange carrier but for which DexMedia LLC publishes a telephone directory. Foreign directories may or may not include a white page listing section).

Directory Service Order Codes

In addition to the Directory Specifications file, the East Directory Service Order Code file should be used when ordering listings. This file contains directory names and codes, as well as DAP codes for Verizon North (New York and New England), and White Pages service order codes for Verizon South (Mid-Atlantic). The file also includes the Telco Close and Publication dates for directories. Verizon West directory information is included as well.
