Electronic Bonding   3 of 3 (Access Services)

Business Reason
Electronic Bonding (EB) provides the ability to perform a machine-to-machine transfer of information in support of access services. The preordering functions of Service Address Validation and Connecting Facility Assignment (CFA) are available through Verizon’s EB platform. Information that is being exchanged may be integrated into your company’s internal system/application as a pre-order tool, which when used prior to submission of Access Service Requests (ASRs) may reduce correction orders or “SUPs” for address and CFA information.

Business Reason
Electronic Bonding offers your company a method to transmit key information from your company to Verizon’s validation processes in real time, thus reducing errors prior to the submission of ASRs. This process requires a project plan with a considerable infrastructure (hardware / software) investment and is most suitable for access customers with high ASR volume where economies of scale may justify its cost and maintenance. While Web based applications may provide more flexibility with well-defined user interfaces, they do not interface directly with your company's Access ordering applications.

System Requirements
EB for support of access preordering services systems is an ANSI (American National Standards Institute) based application-to-application interface that requires a dedicated circuit to one of our Verizon data centers. The platform is based on Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) and follows industry standards set by the Alliance of Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). Verizon CORBA Carrier uses an Internet Inter-ORB Protocol (IIOP) connection with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 32bit encryption. The average time to develop and implement the Verizon CORBA Carrier gateway is approximately nine months, six months to develop and three months to test.

Test/Troubleshooting
Specification issues, business rules, Interface Definition Language (IDL) questions and customer training/education are addressed at the CORBA Helpdesk. The helpdesk coordinates the follow-up and monitoring of progress for the resolution with IT and each customer. Please e-mail CORBA.Carrier@verizon.com or contact your account manager if your company is interested in using our EB interface for access preorder validation.
